George_Lu_profile_picI am currently an NIH Pathway to Independence (K99) postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Mikhail Shapiro at California Institute of Technology (Caltech), and I work on biomolecular engineering of proteins and cells for molecular imaging and therapies. My work was recently recognized by the Young Investigator of the Year (2018) award from World Molecular Imaging Society (WMIS).

Before the position, I completed my PhD research on structural biology of membrane proteins and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy with Dr. Stanley Opella at University of California San Diego (UCSD).

I am passionate in integrating my skills of protein biochemistry, synthetic biology and magnetic resonance to develop novel imaging and control methods that could benefit both basic research and therapeutic developments.
